The paper offers a dark portrait of sustainability governance and its costs. The effects on the fundamental economy of macroeconomic policies are analysed in three crucial areas: real estate, finance and energy. The analysis gives the impression that Sustainability and Welfare are directly proportional measures, the increase of the first factor accentuates the income gap underlying Welfare actions.
